X Games legends old and new are gathering, gathering for THE biggest event on the snowboarding calendar this year. Created and developed by snowboarding’s very own Terje Haakonsen, ladies and gentlemen, we give you the Swatch TTR 6 Star, Oakley Arctic Challenge.
With a monolithic quarterpipe, X-Games gold medallist Travis Rice, Swatch TTR Tour leader Peetu Piiroinen, and old school legends Haakonsen and Simmen in the mix, air traffic control have been notified, for the 19-21 February there will be more than one UFO above Linderudkollen, Oslo.
With 1000 TTR points on the line, together with a massive $100,000 prize fund, could this be the year someone takes Haakonsen’s crown and goes higher than his phenomenal 9.8 meter launch at this very event back in ’07?
When people talk about progressing the game, the Arctic Challenge is that progression. This goes for the green thinking behind the event, with this year set to become the most environmentally friendly yet. Serving up organic, healthy food, using sustainable energy sources and ensuring that all waste materials are properly recycled, it’s progressing in more way than one.
